Joaquin Niemann takes clubhouse lead at International Series India

Joaquin Niemann showcased his class on day two of the International Series India 2025, firing a flawless four-under-par 68 to take the clubhouse lead at six-under. With thick fog causing delays, half the field—including first-round leader Eugenio Chacarra—has yet to complete their rounds, leaving an unpredictable leaderboard heading into the weekend.

Niemann’s Steady Performance

Amid challenging conditions at DLF Golf and Country Club, Niemann remained composed, carding an eagle and two birdies for the tournament’s first bogey-free round. His highlight came on the par-five eighth, where he holed a spectacular lob shot for eagle. A clutch par save on the ninth capped off an impressive round.

“It’s a tough course,” Niemann admitted. “You gotta hit your tee shots, you gotta hit your lines. I’m happy to be in this position, but there’s a lot of golf left to play.”

The 26-year-old, fresh off his win at the PIF Saudi International, is seeking back-to-back International Series titles. Despite limited starts on the Asian Tour, Niemann has never finished outside the top 10 in his five appearances.

Schniederjans and Higa Stay in Contention

American Ollie Schniederjans and Japan’s Kazuki Higa sit two shots back at four-under after posting rounds of 69 and 71, respectively.

Schniederjans finished strong with four consecutive birdies, including an impressive approach on the difficult 17th.

“It’s the wildest hole I’ve ever played in a tournament,” he said. “You have to judge it perfectly, or you can make a mess there.”

Higa, known for his strategic play, emphasized patience on the demanding course.

“It’s not a birdie course,” he explained. “You have to stay patient and capitalize when opportunities arise.”

Fog Delays Leave Unfinished Business

A two-hour fog delay this morning, following yesterday’s one-hour setback, left half the field unable to complete their rounds.

Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, Mexico’s Abraham Ancer, and the Philippines’ Justin Quiban are among those at three-under, still yet to make the turn. They will resume play tomorrow alongside 50 other players before round three begins.

Strong Push from Toledo, DeChambeau in the Mix

Guatemala’s Jose Toledo produced the best round of the week, carding a six-under 66 with nine birdies, placing him three-under overall.

Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau, one of the tournament’s biggest names, battled to an even-par 72 and sits one-under heading into the weekend.

What’s Next?

With fog delays extending the second round, Saturday promises a jam-packed day of action as the remaining field completes their rounds before the moving day battle begins.

Can Niemann maintain his lead and continue his dominance in The International Series? Or will one of the chasing pack make a move under clearer skies?

Stay tuned for the latest updates!
