Jema Galanza turned in another two-way gem as Creamline dismantled Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam, 25-18, 25-16, 25-6, at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, September 1. The sweep pushed the Cool Smashers to a perfect 2-0 record, good for the solo lead in the PVL Invitational.

Galanza finished with 12 points and 15 excellent digs to claim Player of the Game honors. Her performance capped a night where Creamline made sure the tournament’s early upsets stayed someone else’s story, not theirs.

Galanza, Cool Smashers Punish Ho Chi Minh Early

The Cool Smashers had to grind through a tight opening set before their firepower kicked in. Once it did, Ho Chi Minh had no real answer for Creamline’s blend of power hitting and years of shared chemistry.

That dominance peaked in the third set, when Creamline exploded for 10 unanswered points to open the frame. Michele Gumabao scored four of those points, while Kyle Negrito’s ace and Galanza’s kill block kept the run going.

Thi Kim Thanh Dang finally snapped the drought for Ho Chi Minh, but the break barely slowed Creamline down. Another surge stretched the lead to 17-1, and Bea de Leon closed it out with a block to finish a 19-point rout.

Balanced Attack Fuels Creamline’s Perfect Start

Sachi Minowa followed her 19-point outing from Monday with another 12 points, matching Tots Carlos as the team’s second-leading scorer. Alyssa Valdez added nine points, and Pangs Panaga and Gumabao chipped in six apiece to round out a deep offensive night.

Creamline dominated the stat sheet across the board. The Cool Smashers outhit Ho Chi Minh 49-19 in attacks, out-blocked them 11-4 at the net, and edged them 5-3 in service aces over the 61-minute match.

Dang paced Ho Chi Minh with eight points, while Le Thi My Xuyen and Dao Thi Nung managed just six and four. Creamline now heads into Wednesday’s break atop the standings, with a showdown against Farm Fresh set for Thursday.
