Bobby Ray Parks Jr. has finally been given the PBA clearance to join the Japan B.League, according to multiple reports.
The embattled former TNT Tropang Giga wing man is reported to have been given a clearance by the MVP franchise, according to reports by GMA News Online and Tiebreaker Times on Friday.
The reports indicate that the Japanese professional league wrote a letter to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the country’s national governing body for the sport, to inquire about Parks playing in Japan.
One Sports added that PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial has confirmed Parks is not under a PBA contract as of posting time.
Parks took a sabbatical last March, a move that was questioned by no less than Manny V. Pangilinan himself, who seemed to have been irked by the 6-foot-5 wing man’s approach.
The former NBA G-Leaguer was reportedly threatened to be banned by FIBA from basketball leagues if the issue wasn’t sorted out.
Rumor has it that Parks is bound for Japan, although details, including which team and whether as an Asian or regular import, remain to be known.
