NorthPort Batang Pier big man Greg Slaughter did not see playing time in the squad’s 85-63 loss to the Meralco Bolts on PBA Philippine Cup 2021 opening day Friday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The 7-foot big was said to have missed training sessions with his new squad after flying to the United States to get fully vaccinated earlier this year.
Slaughter, the 2013 top overall pick, was traded by Barangay Ginebra to NorthPort in exchange for Christian Standhardinger.
Ultimately, it was head coach Pido Jarencio’s decision to bench the former Ateneo big man and have him observe the game for now.
Slaughter added he is healthy and ready to play.
