With just two days before the NBA Draft 2022, 7-foot-3 Filipino prospect Kai Sotto is still nowhere to be found in major mock draft lists from United States media outlets.
Websites like ESPN, Bleacher Report, Yahoo!, NBC, and CBS all still didn’t have Sotto’s name in their final projections ahead of the draft to be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 23 (June 24 Manila time).
As of posting time, the former Adelaide 36ers center has had eight workouts now, the latest one being with the Indiana Pacers.
In an interview with the Pacers after his workout, Sotto described himself as “a skilled seven-footer that can shoot from the outside and (I’m) a pretty good passer. High basketball IQ and pretty good blocker.”
Sotto averaged 7.5 PPG (50 percent FGs), 4.5 RPG, and 0.8 BPG for the 36ers during the 2021-22 NBL Australia regular season.
The 19-year-old also had workouts with the New York Knicks and the Sacramento Kings, among other NBA squads.
Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero still headline mock drafts, and are poised to be the top three picks.
