Javi Gomez de Liano follows Juan in Japan B.League, signs with Ibaraki Robots

Javi Gomez de Liano has followed suit of his brother Juan’s move, signing a contract with Japan B.League club Ibaraki Robots, the team announced on Monday.

Gomez de Liano will be joining as an Asian import (special quota), replicating the move his brother made when Juan joined with EarthFriends Tokyo Z.

The club released the following statement:

“We are pleased to inform you that Ibaraki Robots has reached an agreement with Javier Gomez de Riano in the B.LEAGUE 2021-22 season. The contract period will be from July 1, 2021 as a special Asian quota.

Javier Gomez de Riano is a Filipino national. It is a multiplayer that is good at 3-point shooting and driving, and can handle from SG to PF. As the Philippine men’s national team, he also played in the FIBA ​​Asia Cup qualifying round in two games against Thailand in November 2020 and against Indonesia in June 2021.

Javier Gomez de Riano’s younger brother is Juan Gomez de Riano, who has signed a basic contract with Earthfriends Tokyo Z.”

The Robots are a second-division B.League squad, like EarthFriends.

The 6-foot-4 Gilas Pilipinas member and former UP Fighting Maroon averaged 10.7 PPG throughout the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, appearing in three games in three windows.
