Alpha Insurance recovered from a shock defeat to VNS, sweeping PGJC-Navy, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19, on Friday, November 14, 2025, in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference. The win revived the Protectors’ fading semifinal hopes and improved their record to 3-3.

The victory sets up a crucial do-or-die clash with the unbeaten Criss Cross King Crunchers on Sunday, the final match of the single-round eliminations. The winner of the Cignal–Savouge match, being played at presstime, will also join Criss Cross in the semifinals of the tournament.

Protectors rebound with authority

Stung by a previous loss to the young VNS Griffins, Alpha Insurance head coach Mike Santos told his players to loosen up and trust their system. His advice worked immediately as the Protectors dominated both spiking and blocking, firing 46 attacks to PGJC-Navy’s 35 and holding a 7-2 advantage at the net.

JJ Javelona bounced back from a two-point outing against the Griffins to score 13 points on 13-of-23 hitting. Barbie San Andres contributed 12 points with 10 excellent receptions, while Rocky Motol added nine markers to help secure the sweep.

The Protectors’ collective effort was clear as every starter contributed to keeping the Sealions off balance. Their strong performance sets the tone for the critical match against Criss Cross, emphasizing teamwork and focus under pressure.

Sealions struggle to keep pace

PGJC-Navy’s Joeven Dela Vega and Peter Quiel finished with eight points each, while Marc Paulino and Greg Dolor added seven apiece. The winless Sealions, now 0-6, will attempt to close out their campaign positively against the VNS Griffins on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Despite the loss, PGJC-Navy showed resilience and will look to gain momentum in their final outing. The Protectors, on the other hand, hope to carry the confidence from this sweep into their semifinals battle.
