EST Cola shattered Creamline’s aura of invincibility on Friday, September 4, downing the two-time PVL Invitational champions in a gritty four-set battle. The Thai guest club prevailed 17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 27-25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The win snapped the Cool Smashers’ three-match winning streak. It also pushed EST Cola within one victory of a finals berth.

Creamline entered the match unbeaten and brimming with championship pedigree. Yet it was the younger, hungrier visitors who dictated terms once the opening set slipped away.

Thai Composure Overcomes Creamline’s Late-Game Magic

Creamline built its dynasty on late-set heroics, and the fourth set looked headed the same way. The Cool Smashers erased an eight-point deficit and reached set point on a Thai miscue.

Setter Natnicha Saelao refused to let the moment slip. She snuck in a bold 1-2 play off an overpass to force another deadlock.

Nannaphat Moonjakham then nudged EST Cola back in front with a gutsy net-clipping tip. This time, the lead held for good.

Nattharika Wasan sealed the finish, denying Tots Carlos on a crucial exchange. Creamline’s final net-touch challenge was overturned on video review.

Papatchaya Phontham anchored the effort throughout the match. She finished with 27 points and 12 excellent digs to earn Best Player of the Game honors.

Moonjakham answered with a clutch back-row attack. EST Cola’s defense then held firm against Jaja Santiago-Minowa’s quick-strike attacks through the middle.

Wasan, who had just committed a net violation, redeemed herself moments later. Her sharp cross-court kill gave EST Cola a 2-1 set lead.

That composure carried into the fourth, where the Thais raced to a 12-5 cushion. Creamline never found its rhythm to answer.

Creamline still held the edge in blocking and aces, finishing with 12 blocks and eight aces. EST Cola countered with 57 attack points to Creamline’s 48, proving discipline trumped firepower.

The result lifts EST Cola into a share of the lead at 3-1 with Creamline. Both teams face decisive matches Sunday, with a possible championship rematch on the line.
