Quinto delivers late

With the pressure mounting in overtime, Quinto’s poise proved decisive as he repeatedly converted from the line to keep Magnolia at bay. His clutch free throws in the final seconds ultimately sealed one of the conference’s most dramatic finishes.

Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo praised his squad’s resilience after overcoming Magnolia’s gritty challenge, highlighting the consistency his team has shown alongside active consultant Nenad Vucinic. Trillo said the group’s ability to respond in key moments reflected their growth in high-pressure situations.

Lastimosa shines bright

Marvin Jones led Meralco with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Chris Newsome added 18 points and five assists in a balanced effort. CJ Cansino and Cliff Hodge also contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively, to help the Bolts hold off repeated Magnolia runs.

Jerom Lastimosa erupted for a career-high 28 points for Magnolia, including all of the team’s overtime scoring, while Mark Barroca added 22 points despite an early facial injury. Clint Chapman finished with 26 points before fouling out, and Zav Lucero was limited to four points due to illness.
