PBA: Chot Reyes back as TNT head coach

Veteran tactician Chot Reyes is back as head coach of the TNT Tropang Giga franchise, according to reports Saturday.

The 57-year-old Reyes is best known for guiding TNT to a Perpetual Trophy after winning 3 consecutive PBA Philippine Cup titles from 2011 to 2013.

One of the most decorated coaches in Philippinr basketball history, Reyes is an 8-time PBA champion for 3 different franchises, a 5-time PBA Coach of the Year, and a 7-time PBA All Star Game coach.

The mentor led Gilas Pilipinas to a World Cup appearance in 2014 after winning silver at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

He coached Gilas again in 2017 for the World Cup qualifiers, leading the team to a 4-2 record although stepping down after the infamous Gilas-Australia brawl of 2018.

Reyes will take over from Mark Dickel, who has been let go by the Tropang Giga.

TNT made the finals of the 2020 Philippine Cup, but lost to eventual champions Barangay Ginebra, 4-1.
