The Creamline Cool Smashers wasted no time stamping their authority on the PVL weekend slate, overwhelming Galeries Tower in straight sets behind a sharp and methodical performance at the Capital Arena on Saturday, October 18, night. What was billed as a road test turned into a lopsided showcase, as the defending champions dismantled their struggling opponents 25-9, 25-11, 25-15 to notch their second win in Pool B.
Barely breaking a sweat, Creamline’s star-studded roster turned the match into an extended drill session. Their relentless offense and airtight defense left Galeries Tower reeling early and unable to recover, as the Cool Smashers improved to 2-1 and stayed on track in the standings behind unbeaten leaders ZUS Coffee and Akari.
Import Coco Schwan led the charge with 14 points, while Alyssa Valdez chipped in 10, including two aces that fired up the crowd. Rose Vargas delivered a career-best eight points off the bench. Tots Carlos and Pangs Panaga added five each in limited stints, while the supporting cast contributed steadily across all three frames.

Creamline takes control early
The Cool Smashers established their rhythm right away, overwhelming the Highrisers with clean ball movement and heavy artillery at the net. They dominated in attacks, 42-17, outblocked their foes 9-4, and picked up 18 points off Galeries’ errors while committing only nine themselves.
Galeries briefly showed life in the second set by forcing a 6-all deadlock, but Creamline quickly shut the door with a burst of precise serves and quick strikes. Overpasses and broken plays piled up on the Galeries side, fueling another surge that broke the set wide open.

Bench depth closes the door
Head coach Sherwin Meneses took full advantage of his deep bench, rotating liberally without sacrificing momentum. Even as key starters rested, Creamline’s level didn’t dip. Vargas, Lorie Bernardo, and Mafe Galanza anchored the closing stretch of Set 3, finishing the job with a 7-5 run that sealed the sweep in just 68 minutes.
Galeries Tower import Jelena Cvijovic managed only six points in a frustrating outing. Jean Asis led the locals with seven, while France Ronquillo and Dim Pacres combined for nine. Still winless at 0-3, the Highrisers struggled to cope with Creamline’s experience, firepower, and defensive discipline.
With two weeks of the conference in the books, Creamline once again showed why they remain the standard. Against lesser opposition, their depth and cohesion continue to separate them from the rest of the field.
