BRAVE Combat Federation has officially announced the departure of Nkosi “The Future” Ndebele, marking the end of a historic chapter in the promotion’s history. Ndebele, who emerged from Diepsloot to become BRAVE CF’s first fully homegrown world champion, departs after more than eight years of competition.
His journey with BRAVE CF began in 2017, rising through the amateur and professional ranks. Over his career, he competed in 11 professional fights under the BRAVE CF banner, securing eight wins, including five by stoppage. His defining moment came at BRAVE CF 80 in December 2023, when he captured the bantamweight championship with a dominant victory over Jose Torres. That win solidified his status as a global MMA star.
“Nkosi has been an integral part of BRAVE’s journey, and his contributions to the organization go beyond just his fights. He has been a true professional and a champion, embodying everything we stand for. His presence has left a lasting impact, and we appreciate the years he dedicated to BRAVE CF,” said Mohammed Shahid, president of BRAVE CF.

A legacy of excellence
Ndebele’s career with BRAVE CF is filled with milestones. He fought on three continents, competed in four title fights, and accumulated 143 minutes and 24 seconds of total cage time—the second-most in the promotion’s history.
Reflecting on his time with BRAVE CF, Ndebele expressed gratitude for the opportunities that helped shape his career.
“My journey with BRAVE CF has been transformative. From my first amateur fight to becoming champion, I’ve grown not just as a fighter but as a person. I appreciate the vision and support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the leadership of Mohammed Shahid. The opportunities and platform BRAVE CF provided have been invaluable in showcasing African MMA talent to the world.”
Ndebele’s final fight under BRAVE CF took place at BRAVE CF 91 in Bahrain, where he lost his title in a closely contested five-round battle against Zimbabwe’s Nicholas Hwende. Despite the loss, his legacy as one of the promotion’s most influential fighters remains intact.
A fighter’s evolution
Once known for his relentless pursuit of victory at any cost, Ndebele admitted that his mindset has evolved over the years.
“Until now, my drive has been to win, and I thought it was acceptable to crush my opponent if it meant victory. But now, I no longer think that way at all,” he said. “After more than 20 years competing, nearing 42, I might have matured now. Still, I am grateful to have come this far. I truly love Eduard Folayang without lying.”
Muhammad Rizvan Ali, athlete relations manager at BRAVE CF, acknowledged Ndebele’s impact on the organization.
“Working with Nkosi has been a privilege. His professionalism, dedication, and journey from amateur to world champion have set a high standard for our athletes. He will always be part of the BRAVE CF family.”
As he moves on to the next phase of his career, BRAVE CF celebrates his achievements and the lasting mark he leaves on the organization and African MMA. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring fighters, proving that with perseverance and determination, greatness is within reach.
