Kids Dash kicks off festive weekend at 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon

Excitement filled the air as the Kids Dash officially kicked off the 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) at the F1 Pit Building. Over 5,500 parents and children took part, marking a 10% rise in registrations compared to the previous year.

The event featured young runners sprinting alongside their parents through scenic twilight views of Singapore’s skyline, taking in iconic sights of the Central Business District (CBD) before finishing back at the F1 Pit Building.

Family Fun at the Kids Dash

This year’s Kids Dash offered two categories to introduce children to the joy of running: a 600-meter race for kids aged 6 and under and a 900-meter race for those aged 7 to 12. The event wasn’t just about competition—it provided an opportunity for families to bond, create cherished memories, and inspire future running enthusiasts.

Adding to the fun was the Kids Village, a lively area packed with bouncy castles, human foosball, game booths, and delightful treats like cotton candy and popcorn. The festival atmosphere made it a perfect outing for families.

A Special Guest Appearance

Joining the run was Guinness World Record holder Dr. Zac Leow, the fastest male para-athlete marathoner in the CI1 (men) para-classification. Dr. Leow ran alongside his daughter, sharing his love for running with her.

“Running has given me so much, and I’m thrilled to share this passion with my daughter,” said Dr. Leow. He set his record at the 2023 SCSM, completing the marathon in 4 hours, 51 minutes, and 59 seconds—a victory he celebrated on his daughter’s birthday.

Exclusive Perks for Participants

Participants received special race-day entitlements, including a race bib, running tee, a Kids Dash gift, a finisher’s medal, and refreshments. Additionally, families enjoyed exclusive benefits at the Singapore Flyer and Time Capsule, with free admission for kids with race bibs accompanied by an adult with a full-priced ticket. This promotion runs from 29 November to 8 December 2024.

Family Stories from the Event

Families like the Lees made the most of the event. “It’s always a great experience at the SCSM Kids Dash,” said Mrs. Orathai Lee, who participated with her husband and twin children. “The kids were excited and have been looking forward to it since morning.”

The Festivities Continue

The weekend promises more thrilling events, with the 5km and 10km races scheduled for 30 November, followed by the Half Marathon (21.1km) and Marathon (42.195km) on 1 December. Runners and spectators alike can expect an unforgettable experience at the 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.
