If James’ last name rings a bell, no pun intended, it’s because his paternal grandfather is “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler, who was the undisputed middleweight champion of the world from 1980-1987 and who successfully defended his title 12 times from 1981 to 1986.
Although Hagler Jr. is 3-2 in his first five fights as a professional, he is not to be underestimated. The southpaw has knocked out opponents with his stiff piston-like jab which is just one of the numerous weapons in his arsenal.
The 33-year-old also works as a Night Hours Supervisor at Atlanta International Airport which makes it a challenge preparing and training for fights but as his passion for the sweet science never wavers, he makes time to do roadwork and cross-trains into swimming which helps his cardio.
According to the website, www.millions.co, “James Hagler Jr., a skilled Boxer and the grandson of the iconic Marvelous Marvin Hagler. With a professional record of 3-2, James embodies the spirit of his legendary lineage, bringing passion and power to every match. Follow his journey as he continues to carve his own path in the ring, honoring his family legacy with every punch thrown.”
His next fight will be in Nigeria on October 26 against Adebayo who is a virtual unknown to James but he’s leaving no stone unturned in his preparation and training.
When preparing for an opposing boxer who you know nothing about, training must be holistic whereas against a familiar foe, training is zeroed in on your opponent’s weaknesses, tendencies, and strengths.
