Criss Cross stays unbeaten, sweeps Alpha Insurance in Spikers’ Turf Open Conference

Criss Cross continued its dominant run in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, steamrolling Alpha Insurance 25-10, 25-12, 25-11 on Sunday, March 9, at the Ynares Sports Arena.

With firepower, defense, and team cohesion on full display, the King Crunchers extended their record to 6-0, keeping their perfect slate intact at the start of the second round.

Alpha Insurance, missing key scorers Vincent Nadera, Edward Camposano, and JJ Javelona, struggled to mount any resistance, allowing Criss Cross to close out the match in just 54 minutes.

Garcia, Requinton lead the charge

Jude Garcia starred for Criss Cross, tallying 13 points built on seven attacks, five kill blocks, and an ace. He complemented his offensive display with eight excellent receptions, ensuring smooth execution on both ends.

Jaron Requinton also delivered another efficient performance, finishing with 12 points, including 10 kills on 13 attempts, an ace, and a block.

“We’re happy to start the second round with a win. What’s even better is that everyone on the team got to play and contribute,” said Requinton. “But we can’t be complacent because now our opponents know us better. We have to stay sharp.”

Criss Cross outclassed Alpha Insurance in every statistical category:

  • Kills: 43 vs. 18
  • Blocks: 14 vs. 2
  • Aces: 3 vs. 0

Setters Ish Polvorosa (12 excellent sets) and Manuel Sumanguidd (7 receptions, 6 digs) orchestrated the King Crunchers’ attack, while Chu Njigha and Gian Glorioso added seven points each to fortify their net defense.

Next matches: Key battles ahead

Criss Cross will look to extend its winning streak against VNS-Laticrete on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., while Alpha Insurance aims to recover against PGJC-Navy at 1 p.m.

With their unbeaten record still intact, the King Crunchers are shaping up as the team to beat in Spikers’ Turf 2025.
