Joy Aseo delivered a commanding performance to lift Adamson University past University of the East, 25–18, 25–23, 25–16. The sweep pushed the defending champions to 2–0 and into a share of the V-League Collegiate Challenge lead.
Aseo finished with 17 points on 14 attacks, two blocks, and two aces. Her all-around effort anchored the Lady Falcons through a tricky second set before the match broke open.

Aseo, Mordi Fuel Adamson’s Dominant Sweep
Adamson needed a second-set comeback before pulling away for good. Aseo and Frances Mordi took charge in that stretch, steadying the offense when UE threatened to even the match.
Mordi finished with 11 points, five digs, and nine excellent sets. Her steady floor play complemented Aseo’s scoring punch as Adamson blew the game open in the third set.
Setter Fhei Sagaysay orchestrated the attack with 13 excellent sets. Libero Juris Manuel added eight digs, giving the Lady Falcons a stable defensive backbone throughout the sweep.
Head coach JP Yude praised his team’s response after a shaky start. “So far, so good, kasi halos lahat naman ng girls showed up… Thankful lang sa Lord on how they responded sa game, especially don sa second set,” he said.
UE Falls Despite Strong Showing From Adamson Alumnae
Francheska Adem led UE with 15 points, while fellow Adamson High School product Janessa Buhay added 11. Both once wore Adamson colors before continuing their volleyball careers at UE.
Bea Zamudio chipped in seven points for the Lady Warriors. Despite the individual efforts, UE could not solve Adamson’s balanced attack across three sets.
The loss dropped UE to 1–1 on the young season. The Lady Warriors will look to bounce back against winless San Beda University on August 30 at noon.
Adamson, meanwhile, will chase a third straight win against Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Saturday at noon. The Lady Falcons remain tied with Arellano University atop the standings entering the new week.
