Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is set to participate in the BNI Indonesian Masters later this month, adding excitement to this prestigious tournament. The $2 million Asian Tour event will take place at Royale Jakarta Golf Club from October 31 to November 3, marking Watson’s first appearance on The International Series.
Watson, the current captain of RangeGoats GC in the LIV Golf League, will be joined by a stellar lineup, including John Catlin, the leader in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, as well as fellow LIV Golf stars Richard Bland and Danny Lee. Defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar, along with Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat and China’s rising star Ding Wenyi, who recently turned professional after winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, will also compete, contributing to one of the strongest fields in tournament history.
This marks Watson’s inaugural tournament in Indonesia and his ninth appearance on the Asian Tour. He has previously finished as a runner-up on the tour twice: at the Thailand Golf Championship in 2012 and the PIF Saudi International two years ago.
Watson expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments overseas, and I am really excited about playing in Indonesia for the first time. I enjoy coming to Asia, soaking in the sights and sounds, and seeing the diverse mixture of players out here.”
The BNI Indonesian Masters plays a significant role in The International Series, which offers a pathway to the LIV Golf League. Watson added, “I’m a big believer in LIV Golf, and I’m proud of the impact it has had on the game of golf worldwide.”
Watson, who won the Masters in 2012 and 2014, has 12 PGA Tour victories, including two World Golf Championships: the 2014 WGC-HSBC Champions in China and the WGC-Matchplay in 2018. He has also represented the U.S. in four Ryder Cups.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo emphasized the significance of having Watson at the BNI Indonesian Masters, stating, “This aligns with BNI’s commitment to offering innovative services that cater to customer needs. We hope that the presence of Watson, along with other world-class players, will fulfill the expectations of golf fans in Indonesia.”
The BNI Indonesian Masters is the seventh of ten stops on The International Series this year and the 17th event of the Asian Tour season.
