Sungjae Im has played 36 holes at the SJM Macao Open without a bogey, and the two-time PGA Tour winner now holds a three-shot lead. A first Asian Tour title is within reach at Macau Golf & Country Club.

Im followed an opening 64 with a 63 in the second round to reach 13 under, with 13 birdies and no bogeys over two rounds. Chinese Taipei’s Wang Wei-hsuan, who also shot a 63, and American Austin Truslow, with a 64, share second.

Sungjae Im Leads SJM Macao Open as Bogey-Free Run Continues

Im started on the back nine and made birdies at Nos. 11, 12 and 15 and on his final hole. He then added gains at Nos. 4, 6 and 7. “Bogey-free rounds for two days, so I’m very happy with how I’m playing,” he said.

Wind could shape the weekend, and Im plans to adjust. “If the wind is blowing or pretty strong, I’ll play safer. And if it’s not blowing as hard, I’ll try to attack a bit more, play more aggressive.”

Im has two PGA Tour wins, at The Honda Classic in 2020 and the Shriners Children’s Open in 2021. He is still seeking his first Asian Tour title and first win since the 2024 Woori Financial Group Championship on the Korean PGA Tour.

Wang lost to Germany’s Dominic Foos on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at last year’s event and is well placed for another run. “I enjoy coming out to this course every time,” he said after the round.

Truslow made an eagle on the par-5 18th with a 35-footer and also went bogey-free. He said he has “kind of learned how to feel more comfortable on this course,” though he added that it does not suit his eye.

Lee Chieh-po of Chinese Taipei (66) and China’s Wu Ashun (67) are tied for fourth, two shots behind Wang and Truslow. China’s Zhou Yanhan (70) and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson (69) are tied for 14th at 6 under.
