The Farm Fresh Foxies closed their PVL Invitational campaign in style, sweeping Ho Chi Minh City again to seal fifth place. Farm Fresh won 25-10, 25-15, 25-15 in a lopsided finish.

The win came at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, September 8. It gave the Foxies a winning finish after dropping four straight matches in the elimination round.

Trisha Tubu set the tone early, scoring 10 of her game-high 14 points in the opening set alone.

Tubu, Molina Power Balanced Foxies Attack

Farm Fresh trailed 8-9 early in the first set before Tubu ignited a 10-1 run that flipped the score to 19-9. That burst effectively decided the match.

Ces Molina backed her up with 14 points, adding eight excellent receptions and seven excellent digs. Jonna Perdido and Riri Meneses chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively, rounding out a balanced offensive night.

Setter Alohi Robins-Hardy ran the offense smoothly, dishing out 12 excellent sets to keep attackers in rhythm. Libero Buding Duremdes anchored the defense with 12 excellent digs, limiting Ho Chi Minh City’s scoring chances.

Foxies Dominate the Stat Sheet in Sweep

The final numbers showed just how lopsided the match was. Farm Fresh out-hit Ho Chi Minh City 53-30 in attacks, won the blocking battle 9-0, and edged the aces column, 4-3.

That gap mirrored the teams’ first meeting on Aug. 31, when Farm Fresh also won in four sets. Ho Chi Minh City got 10 points apiece from captain Dang Thi Kim Thanh and Ho Thi Bich Diep, but it wasn’t enough to slow the Foxies’ attack.

Despite the strong finish, head coach Koji Tsuzurabara struck a reflective tone, pointing to a shifting style of play across the league. “This tournament, my team saw no good result,” he said. “I think we need to change the volleyball style.”

Tsuzurabara said this year’s PVL style differs sharply from last year’s, and he believes his squad needs more practice to adapt to the changes. With the Invitational behind them, the Foxies will look to apply those lessons in their next PVL conference.
