PFL Africa: Morocco Card Set for Casablanca Showdown

The Professional Fighters League is heading to North Africa for the first time, and it’s bringing a stacked card with it. PFL Africa: Morocco will take place October 10 at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, featuring six semifinal bouts and a heavyweight main event that will determine who advances to the PFL Africa Finals later this year. Billed as the biggest MMA event in Moroccan history, tickets are already available for fans looking to witness the milestone in person.

Nine countries are represented across the card, underscoring just how far PFL’s continental tournament has grown since its early rounds. From West Africa to Southern Africa and now North Africa, the promotion continues pushing into new markets as it builds toward crowning its first PFL Africa champions.

A Hometown Hero Headlines a Stacked Heavyweight Main Event

The night’s headliner pits Senegal against Morocco, as Abdoulaye Kane takes on Badr “Dastan” Medkouri in a heavyweight showdown with serious finishing power on both sides. Kane enters the bout having won all five of his professional fights by stoppage, a mix of four knockouts and one submission that speaks to his ability to end things early. Medkouri isn’t far behind, having racked up eight knockouts in nine career wins, and he’ll have the added motivation of fighting in front of a hometown Moroccan crowd.

That home-field advantage could prove significant given the stakes involved. A win for Medkouri wouldn’t just advance him toward the PFL Africa Finals, it would also give Moroccan fans their signature moment on the sport’s biggest stage yet in the country. Kane, meanwhile, arrives looking to spoil the party and continue his own perfect finishing streak on foreign soil.

The co-main event brings another compelling storyline, as unbeaten Algerian-Canadian Karim “The Kryptonian” Henniene squares off against Nigeria’s Raphael Uchegbu in a bantamweight semifinal. Henniene is fresh off a first-round submission victory at PFL Africa: Nigeria back in June, while Uchegbu made his own statement on that same card with a dominant unanimous decision win. Both fighters will be looking to build on that momentum here.

Semifinal Matchups Span the Continent Across Three Divisions

Beyond the main and co-main events, the rest of the card is loaded with semifinal action across three weight classes. The bantamweight bracket also features Liberia’s Dwight Joseph facing Angola’s Boule Godogo to open the main card, while welterweight action includes Angola’s Shido Boris Esperança taking on South Africa’s Peace Nguphane, along with Guinea-Bissau’s Rivaldo Pereira against Nigeria’s David Samuel.

The lightweight tournament rounds out its final four with an all-Nigerian semifinal between Patrick Ocheme and Cornel Thompson, plus Senegal’s Demba Seck facing Chad’s Hussain Al Kurdi. With fighters from Algeria, Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Chad, Liberia, and Morocco all represented, the card reflects the truly continental scope of PFL Africa’s tournament format.

The Morocco event marks another step forward in PFL’s broader pan-African rollout under General Manager Elias Schulze, who has overseen the league’s expansion across multiple regions of the continent. “We’re looking to go to all four corners of the continent,” Schulze said, signaling that Morocco likely won’t be the promotion’s last stop in North Africa. With the Africa Finals now within reach for the winners on this card, PFL Africa: Morocco represents a pivotal step in the tournament’s home stretch.
