Magnolia delivered one of its most complete performances of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Tuesday night, dismantling TNT Tropang 5G in a commanding 106-94 victory at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Fueled by an explosive opening quarter and sustained pressure on both ends, the Hotshots never trailed and showcased the kind of balance, discipline, and urgency that could make them a dangerous postseason threat.
The victory significantly boosted Magnolia’s playoff standing while intensifying its chase for a coveted Top Four finish and the valuable twice-to-beat incentive. More importantly, it reinforced the Hotshots’ growing momentum at the most critical stage of the conference.

Clint Chapman powers Magnolia’s statement victory
Clint Chapman spearheaded the Hotshots’ relentless assault with a monster 42-point, 14-rebound performance, overwhelming TNT’s defense while consistently controlling the interior. His scoring outburst established the tone early and allowed Magnolia to dictate pace from start to finish.
Mark Barroca complemented Chapman brilliantly, orchestrating the offense with veteran poise en route to 15 points and 12 assists, while Zavier Lucero added 13 points, eight rebounds, and critical momentum-shifting plays. Their collective execution gave Magnolia both stability and versatility throughout the contest.
Magnolia wasted no time imposing its will, storming to a 35-15 first-quarter lead before stretching its advantage to 59-40 by halftime. Chapman’s dominance inside, combined with Magnolia’s suffocating perimeter defense, left TNT scrambling for answers despite Bol Bol’s remarkable individual effort.
Magnolia’s playoff surge gains critical momentum
Even though Bol Bol erupted for 53 points and 13 rebounds, Magnolia’s superior depth and team-oriented execution proved decisive. TNT briefly threatened in the third quarter by trimming the lead to single digits, but Magnolia repeatedly responded with composed offensive sets and timely defensive stops.
Barroca’s steady control, Lucero’s versatile energy, and key contributions from Jerom Lastimosa, Paul Lee, Ian Sangalang, Javi Gomez de Liano, and Rome dela Rosa ensured the Hotshots maintained command throughout. Every key Magnolia contributor played a role in neutralizing TNT’s comeback attempts.
With the win, Magnolia improved to 6-5, drawing level with TNT while strengthening its postseason position heading into a crucial final elimination-round matchup against Meralco. More importantly, Magnolia remains mathematically alive for a Top Four finish, making its closing stretch even more significant.
For TNT, the loss creates additional urgency as Tropang 5G now faces mounting pressure to secure better playoff positioning against Barangay Ginebra. Magnolia, meanwhile, appears to be peaking at precisely the right moment.
