Rain or Shine turned the Ynares Center in Antipolo into a shooting gallery, draining a record-tying 23 long-range shots to defeat Terrafirma, 124-117, and extend its winning streak to seven games in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday, April 15. The Elasto Painters leaned on their hot shooting from beyond the arc to overwhelm their opponents.
Despite the high-scoring win, head coach Yeng Guiao stressed the need for defensive improvement after allowing 117 points. Still, the team’s offensive explosion proved too much for Terrafirma to overcome.

Asistio sparks shooting barrage for Elasto Painters
Anton Asistio led the long-distance assault, finishing with 18 points highlighted by four three-pointers and a four-point play. He erupted in the second quarter, scoring 15 points and igniting the team’s decisive run.
Rain or Shine showcased remarkable depth as nine players connected from beyond the arc. Jaylen Johnson, Jun Roque, and Deo Cuajao each hit three triples, while Adrian Nocum, Leo Santillan, Caelan Tiongson, and Beau Belga added two apiece.
Joshua David also joined the barrage with one triple, completing a team effort that saw Rain or Shine vastly outshoot Terrafirma from long distance. Their relentless perimeter attack stretched the defense and created consistent scoring opportunities.
Second-quarter explosion buries Terrafirma
The turning point came in the second quarter when Rain or Shine unleashed a blistering 41-18 run to seize full control of the game. Asistio led the charge during that stretch, capitalizing on open looks and pushing the lead to a commanding margin.
By halftime, the Elasto Painters had built a 23-point advantage, forcing Terrafirma into catch-up mode for the rest of the contest. The lead ballooned to as much as 26 in the third quarter as Rain or Shine continued to dictate the tempo.
Terrafirma, which led 28-27 after the opening quarter, struggled to recover from the onslaught. Mubashar Ali and the Dyip showed fight late in the game, trimming the deficit with a strong fourth-quarter push, but the gap proved too wide.
The loss marked Terrafirma’s fourth straight defeat after opening the conference with three consecutive wins. Meanwhile, Rain or Shine solidified its hold on the top spot, continuing its impressive run behind a potent offensive system.
