Filipino knockout artist Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado opens his 2026 campaign with a high-stakes flyweight clash against South African contender Willie “White Lion” van Rooyen at ONE Fight Night 41 on Prime Video. The matchup places two dangerous finishers in a rebound fight with clear implications for their divisional standing.

The flyweight MMA bout is set for Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday, March 14 (Philippine time). Both fighters enter the contest seeking to restore momentum after suffering losses against elite opposition.

Miado has earned a reputation as one of ONE Championship’s most lethal finishers, recording six stoppage victories across seven wins in the promotion. His pressure-heavy style and explosive power have consistently made him a threat from the opening bell.

At 33 years old, the Albay native combines veteran experience with urgency as he pushes for one more title run. A strong performance could quickly elevate him back into contention at 135 pounds.

Knockout pedigree fuels Miado’s comeback bid

Miado’s résumé includes emphatic TKO victories over former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and seasoned contender Danial “Mini T” Williams. Those wins highlighted his ability to dismantle high-level opponents under the brightest lights.

A four-fight finishing streak once positioned the Alpha Fitness and P’Chai Muay Thai & MMA representative near strawweight title contention. Subsequent setbacks slowed that surge but did not erase his reputation as a dangerous contender.

Miado later moved up to flyweight and immediately showed promise with a unanimous decision win over Gilbert Nakatani at ONE Fight Night 28 in February last year. Competing at 135 pounds, he displayed improved speed while maintaining the power that defined his early success.

That progress stalled in December when Miado suffered a submission loss to Avazbek Kholmirzaev at ONE Fight Night 38. Despite a strong opening stretch, the defeat emphasized the unforgiving depth of the flyweight division.

Van Rooyen brings youth and finishing instincts

Standing across from Miado is Willie van Rooyen, a 23-year-old former two-time EFC Flyweight Champion from South Africa. He enters as one of the division’s most intriguing young talents.

“White Lion” debuted in ONE Championship with a perfect 7-0 professional record, including five finishes that showcased his composure and attacking versatility. His early run quickly established him as a prospect to watch.

That unbeaten streak ended last November at ONE Fight Night 37, where van Rooyen dropped a decision to Kholmirzaev in his toughest test to date. The loss offered valuable experience against top-tier competition.

With both fighters coming off defeats, their meeting at ONE Fight Night 41 shapes up as a critical crossroads bout. The winner leaves Bangkok with renewed momentum and a clearer path forward in the flyweight ranks.
