Criss Cross enters today’s championship match determined to end years of frustration as it faces a confident Kindai University squad in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference finale at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan. The King Crunchers have endured three straight runner-up finishes, fueling their push to finally lift the crown.

Kindai, however, presents a formidable obstacle after dealing Criss Cross its lone loss of the conference during their semifinal encounter. The Japanese visitors have repeatedly shown discipline and consistency throughout their maiden campaign, making them a dangerous opponent in a winner-take-all setting.

Criss Cross remains focused on delivering its best version today, with Jude Garcia emphasizing the need for composure and precision in every phase of the match. Garcia, a three-time league MVP, stressed that the team cannot afford lapses against a disciplined opponent with strong fundamentals.

Kindai adjusts mindset despite earlier win

Kindai head coach Hideyuki Mitsuyama acknowledged their previous victory over Criss Cross but insisted it holds no weight heading into the final. He expects a tougher, more aggressive King Crunchers squad and has urged his players to reset mentally for the title match.

Mitsuyama noted that Kindai’s success will depend on sticking to its signature tempo and structure. Guided by the trio of Ryutaro Aun, Haruka Misugi, and Yoshiki Yasuda, the squad aims to deliver another composed showing to become the first guest team to win a Spikers’ Turf championship.

Criss Cross banks on balanced effort for breakthrough

For Criss Cross, ending its streak of near-misses will require a synchronized effort from its main rotation. Garcia highlighted the need for full commitment from Nico Almendras, Noel Kampton, Jaron Requinton, Gian Glorioso, and Poy Colinares as they attempt to break through at last.

In the bronze medal match at 3 p.m., Cignal looks to keep its podium streak alive against Savouge Aesthetics. The Spin Doctors are targeting a third straight top-three finish, while the Super Spikers aim to extend their impressive podium run despite narrowly missing another Finals appearance.
