The invitational tournament was a key step in preparation for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship.

The three-day Alas Pilipinas Invitationals concluded with a gripping five-set battle between Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi and Hyundai Capital Skywalkers, 22-25, 25-12, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11, on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Although it was Jakarta who secured the final win, the spotlight remained on the Philippines’ hosting success. The invitational tournament served as a vital test event for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, which the country will proudly host in September.

Successful test event for FIVB world meet

Organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), the event brought together elite international clubs and gave local fans a preview of the high-caliber competition expected in the upcoming world championship. The Philippines will welcome 32 teams from five continental federations, with matches to be played at both the Smart Araneta Coliseum and Mall of Asia Arena.

PNVF officials were present throughout the tournament to assess venue logistics, officiating systems, and crowd management—elements crucial to the smooth execution of a world-class event later this year.

Alas Pilipinas project gains momentum

The invitational tournament also bolstered national pride under the Alas Pilipinas banner, which has unified Filipino volleyball across both men’s and women’s teams. The local fanbase showed strong support, especially after the women’s squad’s earlier success in the AVC Nations Cup.

The men’s test event featured high-level action and highlighted the Philippines’ capability to host international competitions with quality matchups, fan energy, and organizational precision.

As the FIVB World Championship draws closer, the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals served not just as a trial run but a celebration of Filipino volleyball’s continuing rise on the global stage.
