The Criss Cross King Crunchers continued their dominant run in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference after dismantling the Alpha Insurance Protectors, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20, Wednesday night, March 11, at the FilOil Playtime Centre. The straight-sets victory kept the King Crunchers unbeaten with a league-best 6-0 record in the 2026 tournament.
Already known for their explosive offense, Criss Cross showcased another strength by dominating at the net. Their stifling blocking and disciplined defensive reads frustrated the Protectors throughout the one-hour contest.
The King Crunchers controlled the tempo from the opening set and never allowed Alpha Insurance to gain momentum. Their balanced performance ensured a comfortable victory that strengthened their grip on the top spot in the standings.

Four-time MVP Jude Garcia finished with eight points and emphasized the team’s focus on fundamentals despite their strong start. He noted that maintaining effort was crucial as the tournament continues into the second round.
Dominant frontline anchors perfect run
Criss Cross built its defensive wall around the imposing frontline duo of Kim Malabunga and Poy Colinares. The pair anchored a massive blocking effort that saw the King Crunchers finish with 17 kill blocks in the match.
Colinares tallied 10 points highlighted by four blocks, while Malabunga delivered eight points that included five stuffs at the net. Their presence consistently disrupted the Protectors’ attacking patterns.
Adrian Villados orchestrated the offense with 12 excellent sets and also added a point as Criss Cross maintained smooth ball distribution. The defending Invitational Conference champions now prepare for a highly anticipated rematch with Savouge on Friday at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Alpha Insurance dropped to a 3-3 record but remained in third place in the standings. Edward Camposano paced the Protectors with 10 points, while JM Ronquillo and Jau Umandal were limited to seven points each.
The Protectors will attempt to bounce back when they face 3B in their next match on Friday afternoon.
