Nicholas Hwende calls out Stephen Loman after Filipino star returns to BRAVE CF

Stephen Loman’s return to BRAVE Combat Federation has already drawn attention from one of the organization’s veterans. Nicholas Hwende, former Bantamweight World Champion, has stepped forward to challenge Loman for a potential cage showdown.

Hwende, 30, is a celebrated pioneer of BRAVE CF, having debuted at its inaugural event in September 2016. The Zimbabwean fighter holds an undefeated 6-0 record under the promotion, cementing his dominance during his first run.

Hwende expressed his excitement about Loman’s return, stating he would welcome the Filipino star with open arms — in the cage. “He’s a veteran in the business, and I would love to welcome him with open arms and also share the cage with him one day,” he said.

Loman, representing Lions Nation MMA, is returning to the Bahrain-based organization after four years away. One of the highlights of his career came at BRAVE CF 9 in November 2017, where he captured the inaugural Bantamweight World Title with a first-round TKO of Gurdarshan “Saint Lion” Mangat.

He defended the title four times over 1,179 days, including a memorable fourth-round knockout of former Featherweight World Champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame at the Mall of Asia Arena in 2019. Now, Loman is focused on reclaiming the bantamweight crown, with a return fight expected in 2026.

Potential title paths and Hwende’s ambitions

Hwende also has unfinished business in the division, having lost the belt to current champion Borislav Nikolić at BRAVE CF 96 this past June. As the No. 1 contender, Hwende believes a win over Loman would solidify his position for a rematch with Nikolić.

“To fight someone like him will raise my status. So yeah, I want to be the one to welcome him,” Hwende said. For him, Loman is simply another obstacle — one he intends to overcome.

“With me, he’s just another boy that I just need to beat up. I don’t see him like anyone different. It’s nothing big about it. He’s just another guy,” Hwende added. He also delivered a parting message to Loman, emphasizing his eagerness to face the Filipino star early next year.

“As a former Bantamweight World Champion, I welcome you, Stephen. I can’t wait to share the cage with you. And also, it will be an honor to share the cage with you,” Hwende declared.

Hwende vs. Loman: a clash fans are waiting for

The callout has set the stage for what could be a highly anticipated bantamweight showdown in 2026. Both fighters have championship experience and are considered top-tier competitors in BRAVE CF’s bantamweight division.

Fans are already speculating about the matchup, with Hwende aiming to solidify his place as the No. 1 contender and Loman seeking to reclaim his throne. The stage is set for an explosive clash that could define the division for years to come.
