Miguel Tabuena gave home fans a reason to celebrate after storming to victory in the US$2 million International Series Philippines on Sunday at Sta. Elena Golf Club. The Filipino standout fired a flawless seven-under-par 65 to finish at 24-under overall, securing a commanding three-shot win.
The 31-year-old held his ground against Japanese contenders Kazuki Higa and Yosuke Asaji, who tied for second at 21-under with matching rounds of 65 and 67. The triumph marked Tabuena’s fourth Asian Tour title, making him the most successful Filipino player in tour history and pushing his career earnings past US$3 million.

Tabuena conquers home course with poise
Tabuena, who withdrew from last week’s SJM Macao Open due to neck spasms, showed no signs of rust. After a steady start, he surged ahead with an eagle on the par-five eighth hole and added four birdies on the back nine to seal the emotional win in front of an ecstatic crowd.
“This is the biggest golf event the Philippines has ever hosted, and to win it as a Filipino is an incredible honor,” Tabuena said. “It was emotional seeing my family and fans there. After such a tough week, this means everything.”
Higa reclaimed the top spot on the Asian Tour Order of Merit after closing with four straight birdies. “We wanted to stay aggressive to the finish, and it paid off,” said the 30-year-old. “There are more tournaments to come, so I’ll keep my focus and aim for another win.”
Asaji, Higa finish strong in pursuit
Asaji rediscovered his rhythm after a rough stretch, producing five birdies on the back nine, including a holed bunker shot on the 17th. “The back nine suited me better. It feels good to be back in form and qualify for next week’s Hong Kong Open,” he said.
Former world No. 1 Dustin Johnson carded a 67 to end tied for 15th at 13-under. The International Series Philippines, the sixth leg of the 2025 Asian Tour’s nine-event series, now moves to Hong Kong for the US$2 million Link Hong Kong Open.
