Creamline crushes Choco Mucho to set up PVL Finals showdown with Petro Gazz

Creamline showed no signs of slowing down in its bid for another Premier Volleyball League (PVL) title, dismantling Choco Mucho in a swift 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 victory before a roaring Araneta Coliseum crowd on Thursday night, April 3.

With their championship pedigree on full display, the Cool Smashers overpowered the injury-plagued Flying Titans in just an hour and 14 minutes to punch their ticket to the All-Filipino Conference Finals, where Petro Gazz awaits.

The victory not only extended Creamline’s dominance in the league but also marked its seventh straight Finals appearance. After dropping a crucial semifinal match to Petro Gazz, the defending champions bounced back with consecutive wins over Akari and Choco Mucho, reaffirming their position as the team to beat.

Negrito Leads Clinical Creamline Attack

“This was a do-or-die match, but for us, the mindset was simple – only ‘do,’” said setter Kyle Negrito, who orchestrated Creamline’s offense with 17 excellent sets. She was named Best Player of the Game for her masterful playmaking.

“Every point had a strategy, every play had a purpose. We stuck to the game plan, executed well, and we’re happy that it paid off,” she added.

Negrito also contributed three points, adding to Creamline’s balanced offensive assault.

Creamline’s Depth Too Much for Choco Mucho

Four Cool Smashers finished in double figures, highlighting the team’s firepower. Bernadeth Pons led the charge with 14 points, while Tots Carlos added 13. Team captain Alyssa Valdez and Pangs Panaga contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, while middle blocker Bea de Leon registered nine, including four crucial kill blocks.

Their relentless attack overwhelmed Choco Mucho, outgunning their sister team in attacks (47-25) and kill blocks (10-3). The Flying Titans struggled without key players, and Creamline took full advantage.

Nothing exemplified Creamline’s dominance more than its defensive shutdown of Choco Mucho’s top scorer Sisi Rondina, who was limited to a career-low seven points.

Isa Molde led the Flying Titans with nine points, while Royse Tubino matched Rondina’s output. Cherry Nunag and Deanna Wong added two points each, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Cool Smashers.

Despite her offensive struggles, Rondina remained a defensive force with eight digs and 15 receptions. However, Choco Mucho simply had no answer for Creamline’s relentless pressure.

PVL Finals Showdown Set

With the victory, Creamline will face Petro Gazz in the best-of-three Finals starting Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum. The Cool Smashers are aiming for their 11th championship and a fifth straight title.

Meanwhile, Petro Gazz is making its first-ever appearance in the All-Filipino Finals after sweeping the semifinals. The Angels, two-time Reinforced Conference champions, have emerged as a legitimate threat to Creamline’s reign.

Choco Mucho, which went winless in the semis, will now battle Akari for third place.

With Creamline’s experience and Petro Gazz’s hunger for their first All-Filipino crown, the stage is set for an intense championship clash.
