The Vietnam Golf Championship is set to tee off with serious financial firepower. The inaugural event carries a $500,000 purse.

It marks the Asian Tour’s return to Vietnam for the first time in three years. The event runs April 1–4 at Long Thanh Golf Club near Ho Chi Minh City.

Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent won the Tour’s last Vietnam stop back in 2023. Vietnam has otherwise stayed active through the Asian Development Tour, hosting eight events there since 2022.

A Strategic Play for the Vietnamese Market

Event promoter VFXG is behind the new championship. The company has run charity golf events in Vietnam for nine years through its CIFE Annual Charity Golf Tournaments.

Brandon Vuong is Tournament Co-Director at VFXG. “VFXG sees the Vietnam Golf Championship as an opportunity to bring world-class golf and an exceptional event experience to Vietnam, in close collaboration with its partners,” he said.

“For us, this is about more than hosting a tournament; it is about creating a platform that showcases Vietnam as an international golf, tourism, and events destination, while connecting businesses, partners and communities through the game,” Vuong added.

The Asian Tour shares that same outlook. Cho Minn Thant, CEO and Commissioner of the Asian Tour, called Vietnam an important market with plenty of room to grow.

“It’s an exciting market that is extremely important to us. It remains a destination with outstanding growth potential, and we are thankful to VFXG for launching the event,” Cho said.

Long Thanh Golf Club Steps Into the Spotlight

Long Thanh Golf Club will host the new championship. The 36-hole venue sits roughly 40 kilometers northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

Designer Ronald Fream built two distinct courses on the property. The Hill Course sits on an elevated plateau, while the Lake Course runs along branches of the Đồng Nai River.
