The V-League, the country’s first-ever amateur volleyball league, is expanding to the Visayas, bringing high-level competition to Cebu’s volleyball scene.
Introducing V-League Visayas
This exciting expansion aims to provide more exposure and opportunities for volleyball players in the region. Richard Palou, president of Sports Vision Management Group Inc., emphasized the importance of growing the sport in the Visayas.
“Many of the country’s top volleyball stars have come from Cebu, and it’s about time we help grow the game further in the region. With V-League Visayas, we are providing another platform to support CESAFI tournaments and give players more opportunities to shine,” said Palou.

Cebu’s Top Collegiate Teams Set to Compete
Leading the inaugural season of V-League Visayas are CESAFI champions University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors and runners-up University of Southern Philippines Foundation Inc. (USPF) Lady Panthers.
They will be joined by:
- University of Cebu (UC)
- University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R)
- University of the Philippines-Cebu (UP-Cebu)
- Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U)
With this lineup, fans can expect intense volleyball action, as these teams battle for regional dominance.
A Game-Changer for Visayan Volleyball
For V-League Visayas commissioner Ken Ucang, the expansion is more than just a tournament—it’s a recognition of the region’s role in Philippine volleyball development.
“The Visayas has been a powerhouse in the volleyball national program. The dedication and hard work of our coaches and players in this region have been our foundation. It’s about time that we give them the platform to showcase the best talents,” said Ucang.
“We are one V-League.”
More details, including the official schedule and matchups, will be announced in the coming weeks.
With V-League Visayas, the sport continues to grow, paving the way for more future volleyball stars from the region.
