Ginebra faces uphill battle vs. TNT as Brownlee’s status remains uncertain

Barangay Ginebra faces a tough Game 4 challenge in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals, potentially playing without Justin Brownlee, who suffered a dislocated thumb in Game 3.

Despite Brownlee’s injury, rookie guard RJ Abarrientos and veteran Troy Rosario remain optimistic, acknowledging the massive impact of his absence but believing in their ability to step up.

Kings nearly pull off win without Brownlee

Ginebra fought valiantly in Game 3, even leading 82-80 in the final two minutes, but TNT capitalized on key offensive rebounds and a clutch Rey Nambatac three-pointer to steal an 87-85 victory. The loss put the Kings down 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

“Siyempre ibang factor kapag wala si JB sa loob. Iba yung nama-magnet ni JB sa offense, tapos siyempre pagdating sa depensa meron kaming bigger guy and help sa mga locals like JB,” said Abarrientos.

Rosario echoed the sentiment: “Malaking bagay yung nawala si Justin, kasi siya yung no. 1 option namin. Pero nakita namin kaya talaga e. Breaks of the game lang talaga, yung last shot ni Rey (Nambatac).”

Never-Say-Die spirit fuels Ginebra

Even with Brownlee sidelined, Ginebra showed resilience, nearly pulling off a win with an all-Filipino lineup. The team remains hopeful, regardless of Brownlee’s availability moving forward.

“We’re still hoping for the best for JB. Pero kailangan naming harapin ito. We need to move on,” said Abarrientos.

For Barangay Ginebra, the “Never-Say-Die” spirit remains alive as they gear up for a crucial Game 4.
