Professional Fighters League appoints Darren Russell as International Director of Marketing Digital and Content

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced the appointment of Darren Russell as its International Director of Marketing Digital and Content. Having collaborated with the organization since 2019 through his independent marketing company, Russell will now officially lead PFL’s global digital strategy, following his success with PFL Europe, Bellator Champions Series, and Dubai Champions Series in 2024.

Russell’s role will involve overseeing marketing, digital, and social activations for PFL’s international events, while also supporting US-based fight nights. His experience in combat sports spans over 11 years, having previously played a key role in launching Eagle FC with MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov. He has also worked with some of the biggest names in the sport, including Floyd Mayweather, Islam Makhachev, and Cris Cyborg.

Driving Global Expansion for PFL

As the Professional Fighters League continues its rapid international expansion, Russell’s expertise will be instrumental in growing its digital presence across key regions, including PFL Europe, PFL MENA, and PFL Africa. Based in the UK, he will report to PFL Europe’s GM David Green and Vice President of Global Brand Chris Blumberg, contributing to PFL’s global brand-building efforts.

PFL CEO Peter Murray praised Russell’s contributions, stating:

With Russell at the helm of PFL’s international marketing initiatives, the league is poised to strengthen its position as a leading global combat sports promotion, leveraging innovative digital strategies to engage fight fans worldwide.
