The excitement is building as the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Division A groupings and game schedule have been officially announced by the FIBA Regional Office – Asia. The tournament, set to take place in Shenzhen, China, from July 13 to 20, 2025, will feature the continent’s top basketball teams battling for regional supremacy.

Groupings

The eight participating teams have been divided into two groups based on their rankings in the 2023 Women’s Asia Cup:

• Group A
  • China (Hosts, defending champions)
  • Korea (12-time champions)
  • New Zealand (2023 semifinalists)
  • Indonesia (2023 Division B winners)
• Group B
  • Japan (Six-time champions)
  • Australia (Three-time bronze medallists)
  • Philippines (Southeast Asia representative)
  • Lebanon (West Asia representative)

Group B stands out as the most diverse, featuring teams from various FIBA Asia sub-zones and offering a compelling battle for a maiden title among three of the four teams.

Key Matchups and Schedule

Defending champions China will open their campaign against Indonesia on July 13, followed by games against Korea and New Zealand. The hosts aim for a record 13th title in front of their home crowd.

Japan, who had their five-title streak snapped in the 2023 edition, will begin their quest to reclaim the crown against Lebanon. They will then face the Philippines and Australia, two teams hungry for their first Women’s Asia Cup title.

Shenzhen Hosts Both Divisions

In addition to Division A, Shenzhen will also host the Division B competition, further solidifying its role as the basketball capital of Asia for 2025. Details about Division B, including participating teams and schedules, will be released in the coming weeks.
