Patrick Reed showcased his golfing brilliance at the Link Hong Kong Open, storming to a three-stroke victory with a final-round 66, finishing at an impressive 22-under-par. The triumph at the prestigious Hong Kong Golf Club marked the 34-year-old Texan’s first win on the Asian Tour and his first individual title in four years.

Reed’s Weekend Heroics

Reed’s electrifying performance included a historic 11-under 59 on Saturday, setting the stage for a commanding lead. On Sunday, he maintained his form, birdieing four consecutive holes from the third to extend his lead to six strokes, and cruised through the back nine despite minor stumbles at the 15th and 18th holes.

“Nothing like coming to a place I know and love,” said Reed. “I love how this course demands creativity. Shooting 59 yesterday helped, but staying focused today was the hardest part.”

Key Results

  • Runner-up Ben Campbell (New Zealand) closed with a solid 65 for a total of 19-under, falling short despite a strong back-nine performance.
  • Kazuki Higa (Japan) dazzled with a 63 to claim third place at 18-under.
  • Wade Ormsby (Australia) and Sadom Kaewkanjana (Thailand) tied for fourth at 17-under after matching 65s.

Taichi Kho Shines for Hong Kong

Local hero Taichi Kho delivered his best performance of the year, tying for sixth with a 66. His late surge included three consecutive birdies from the 13th and a remarkable near-eagle on the 18th, thrilling the home crowd.

“Feels great. So many friends and family were out there supporting me,” Kho said. “It’s been a while since I played on the Asian Tour, and this result feels like a small win for me.”

Looking Ahead

Reed’s victory adds momentum to his late-season campaign as he heads to the International Series Qatar and the PIF Saudi International in the coming weeks.

“This win is special—it’s been four years since my last individual victory,” Reed noted. “The goal today was to expand the lead early and play controlled golf on the back nine, and I’m proud of how I managed it.”
