Toyota disbandment

Know Your PBA History: Greatness Without a 50

Jawo and Mon are all smiles after their last-second team-up in the first PBA All-Star Game on June 4, 1989 that resulted in a 132-130 victory by the Virgilio (Baby) Dalupan-coached Veterans team over the Dante Silverio-mentored Rookie-Sophomore squad at the PhilSports Arena. A completed Jaworski assist to Fernandez in the dying seconds broke a 130-all deadlock and produced the game winner. For the first time in six years, the two were teammates once more after having been estranged since the disbandment of the Toyota franchise after the 1983 PBA season.
