Savouge’s Winning Run Gains Momentum With Returning Setter Vince Imperial Back in Action

Vince Imperial is back, and Savouge is rolling. The setter, back from a shoulder injury, ran the offense with 24 excellent sets as the Spin Doctors extended their winning streak to three games in the 2026 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference.

Savouge beat VNS-Laticrete, 25-10, 25-13, 20-25, 25-19, on Sunday, November 8, at the Filoil Centre. The victory moved the team into a three-way tie for fourth through sixth place at 3-2 with Alpha Insurance and Far Eastern University-DN Steel.

Imperial Steadies the Spin Doctors

Imperial appeared in only his second game of the conference after recovering from the injury. He still directed the attack with 24 excellent sets, giving Savouge a steady hand after VNS-Laticrete took the third set.

Imperial credited the team’s commitment to its system and the trust among teammates. Coach Sydney Calderon said the first two sets followed the game plan, but fatigue showed later because the team has played consecutive games.

Balanced Attack Fuels Third Straight Win

Joeven Dela Vega had his best showing of the conference with 20 points on 18 attacks and two kill blocks. Mark Calado added 17 points, while JP Bugaoan scored 14, including seven of Savouge’s 14 kill blocks.

Jared Schnake posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 excellent receptions, and Rikko Marmeto added 12 excellent receptions. Savouge next faces the winless Armed Forces of the Philippines on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Criss Cross still leads at 5-0, while National University-Archipelago Builders and ClearSkiiin follow at 4-1. VNS-Laticrete dropped to 2-4 and remains seventh.

Jau Umandal led the Griffins with 14 points and 17 excellent receptions, and CJ Segui added 11 points. VNS-Laticrete next faces Alpha Insurance on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

A few notes on the edit. The headline is unchanged, and the article contains no direct quotes, so none were altered. “Centre” stays in Filoil Centre and Filoil EcoOil Centre because it is part of the venue’s proper name, even under US spelling.

I also removed my earlier line crediting the “system of coach Sydney Calderon.” Imperial’s original quote refers to “Madam,” and I can’t confirm from your pasted copy who that is, so the line now says “its system” to avoid attributing it incorrectly.
