Deloria Powers Galeries Tower Breakthrough
Deloria led Galeries Tower to a 25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 15-25, 15-10 escape over Akari on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. The Highrisers snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 1-4, moving up to eighth place.
The outside spiker scored 20 points on 18 attacks and two aces. She also delivered 28 excellent receptions out of 42 attempts.
Galeries Tower had been winless through its first four games of the 2026-27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series. It was swept by Farm Fresh in the opener, then lost three more games in four sets before the breakthrough.
Deloria Stays Mentally Tough Through Losses
Chery Tiggo drafted Deloria, but the team disbanded, and she signed with Galeries Tower in January. The Bacolod native said those experiences made her stronger and left her unfazed by the 0-4 start.
“I think if you want to be a champion, you have to go through din sa mga tough times din. If malagpasan ‘yung mga ‘yun, naniniwala ako na kaya mong manalo, kaya mong lagpasan lahat ng hirap na ‘yan kasi you have to be mentally tough,” shared Deloria.
The Enderun Colleges product said showing up matters even after defeats. “Kahit ayaw mo na mag-training kasi talo ka, kailangan mo pa rin mag-show up. Ganun eh, kailangan mo talagang maging strong,” she said.
“For me, maganda siyang start for us kasi syempre 0-4 po kami so medyo nakakababa po ng morale. Pero at the same time dun din kami natututo na marami pa kaming kailangan ayusin and also communicate and then I think lumabas siya this game,” said the Bacolod native.
She also thanked her coaches and teammates. “Very thankful ako sa coaches and teammates na araw-araw nagsho-show up pa rin kahit ganon,” she said.
Galeries Tower will try for back-to-back wins against ZUS Coffee on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Big Dome. The Highrisers hope to keep climbing in the heated race to the semifinals.
