The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA delivered a statement sweep on Wednesday, September 9. The Lady Altas dominated the University of Santo Tomas, 25-15, 25-18, 25-18, in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge.

The match was played at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City. The win snapped Perpetual’s recent skid and returned the squad to the win column.

Jem Menor and Camille Bustamante led the charge for the Lady Altas. Their offense powered a lopsided victory over the Golden Tigresses.

The result forced a three-way tie at 2-2 among Perpetual, UST, and San Beda. San Beda also won earlier in the day, outlasting the University of the East.

Adamson University and Arellano University remain the only unbeaten squads at 4-0. Perpetual, meanwhile, bounced back strongly after losing to Arellano on Saturday.

Menor, Bustamante Lead Perpetual’s Dominant Sweep

Perpetual took command early, riding a strong start to seize the first two sets. Bustamante then put UST further on the ropes in the third.

Her back-to-back service aces stretched the lead to 21-16. The Golden Tigresses made one last push, but it wasn’t enough.

Menor closed out the match with a crosscourt kill. The contest ended in one hour and 19 minutes.

Menor finished with a match-high 16 points on 15 attacks. Bustamante backed her up with 13 points, three aces, and 10 digs.

Perpetual head coach Sandy Rieta said the team’s response stemmed from frustration after the last loss. “Pinaghandaan talaga yan kasi talagang upset ako noong last game namin,” Rieta said, translated from Filipino.

He added that the coaching staff studied what went wrong together. “Pinag-aralan namin, nagtulong-tulong kami kung bakit nagkaganon. Laban lang,” Rieta said, praising the team’s fighting spirit.

No Golden Tigress Reaches Double Figures in Lopsided Loss

UST struggled offensively throughout the match. No player reached double-digit points for the Golden Tigresses.

Reg Jurado led UST with nine points. Marga Altea followed close behind with eight.

The offensive drought marked an uncharacteristic night for UST. Rieta called the win significant, noting UST’s standing as a UAAP contender.

UST will look to regroup quickly on Sunday, Sept. 13. The Golden Tigresses face winless Letran at 10 a.m.
