Clint Chapman wasted no time making up for a disappointing outing, delivering a dominant performance that powered Magnolia back into the win column in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup. His response came at a crucial time as the team looked to regain momentum following a narrow defeat.

The Magnolia import erupted for 34 points in a convincing 120-101 victory over San Miguel Beer on Sunday, April 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. His efficient scoring and defensive presence allowed the Hotshots to dictate the pace and stay in control for most of the contest.

Chapman’s bounce-back effort followed a frustrating loss to Barangay Ginebra, where turnovers proved costly late in the game. This time, he delivered with precision, shooting 10-of-14 from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, while adding six rebounds and three blocks.

Magnolia capitalizes on strong offensive rhythm

Determined to respond, Magnolia set the tone early and built its offense around high-percentage looks and quick ball movement. The team established control before halftime and maintained its advantage through consistent execution on both ends of the floor.

Jerom Lastimosa also recovered from a costly late-game mistake in the previous outing, contributing 13 points and six assists. His playmaking helped stretch the lead to as much as 26 points, highlighting the team’s ability to respond collectively.

San Miguel struggles without import presence

Magnolia took advantage of San Miguel playing without an import, as Justin Patton was absent amid reports of missed practices. The Beermen struggled to keep up offensively, especially as the Hotshots pulled away with a decisive run in the second half.
