The Beermen erased a 15-point deficit behind a huge second-half surge from CJ Perez, while Don Trollano buried the decisive three-pointer in the final seconds to complete the rally and extend SMB’s winning streak.
CJ Perez powers San Miguel Beer comeback
CJ Perez endured a rough first half after getting into early foul trouble and failing to score, but he completely flipped the game in the second half with an explosive offensive performance.
He finished with 20 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, along with eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. His crucial late-game assist set up Don Trollano’s go-ahead three-pointer with eight seconds remaining.
Justin Patton also played a key role with a dominant double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds, helping San Miguel compensate for June Mar Fajardo’s quiet six-point outing.
Ginebra falls short in closing moments
Barangay Ginebra had multiple chances to extend the game but failed to convert in the final possessions. Justin Brownlee and Scottie Thompson both missed potential game-tying three-point attempts.
Brownlee also struggled with turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch, finishing with key errors in the fourth quarter. RJ Abarrientos led Ginebra with 16 points, while Stephen Holt added 11.
Don Trollano finished with 12 points for San Miguel, highlighted by his clutch corner three that capped a strong 27-16 closing run.
Coach Leo Austria praised his team’s composure in overcoming a double-digit deficit, while Ginebra was left to rue missed opportunities in a tightly contested finish.
