Toos and Cordero complete undefeated title run
Toos and Cordero secured the crown with a 21-13, 21-23, 15-11 victory over Villapando and Eslapor in a tightly contested final that required a deciding set. The NU pair had also beaten the same opponents on opening day, completing a flawless 6-0 run in the tournament.
Villapando and Eslapor, both members of a SEA Games gold medal-winning squad, forced a third set after capitalizing on attacking opportunities in the second frame. However, Toos and Cordero regained control early in the decider and never surrendered momentum.
They jumped to an 8-3 lead and extended it to 13-8 before Toos delivered the championship-clinching attack. The final stretch showcased their ability to execute under pressure and close out tight matches when it mattered most.
For Cordero, the victory marked a significant milestone as she secured her first BVR on Tour title since her 2023 Sipalay triumph. The win also highlighted her continued growth in the beach volleyball circuit alongside emerging partner success.
Men’s, U18 divisions highlight depth of competition
In the men’s division, Alas 1’s Ronniel Rosales and Ranran Abdilla also completed an unbeaten run after defeating Amigo’s Wayne Dionela and Rancel Varga, 21-13, 21-19 in the final. The duo sustained consistent form throughout the tournament, finishing 6-0 in matches played.
Abdilla further strengthened his legacy on the BVR circuit by capturing his seventh career tour gold. Rosales, meanwhile, claimed his first-ever BVR championship, marking a breakthrough performance.
In the U18 girls division, University of Santo Tomas’ Cheng Dadang and Eliza Israel emerged as champions after defeating Academy of Our Lady of Guam’s Landen DeVera and Carmen Eugenia, 21-10, 21-14. The pair also completed an undefeated 6-0 campaign to secure the historic title.
Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Jan Abor and Frelwin Taculong rounded out the men’s podium after edging UST 2’s JM Lagaran and Lance Malinao, 21-19, 26-24 in a tightly contested bronze match.
Semifinals set the tone for championship weekend
In the women’s semifinals, Villapando and Eslapor rallied from a set down to eliminate Alas 2’s Khy Progella and Sofiah Pagara, 19-21, 21-12, 15-10. Toos and Cordero advanced to the final after defeating Fille Cayetano and Kizil Quijote, 24-22, 21-15 in a closely fought straight-sets win.
On the men’s side, Rosales and Abdilla dominated JM Lagaran and Lance Malinao, 21-14, 21-14, while Dionela and Varga secured their finals berth with a 21-15, 22-20 win over Abor and Taculog. Both matches underscored the competitive balance in the men’s field.
The tournament also marked the return of BVR founder Fille Cayetano, who made her first Tour appearance since 2017, adding historical significance to the Nuvali stop.
