AEP-Cabstars overcame a tight challenge from 3B, winning 25-23, 25-13, 25-23 to complete the semifinal cast of the 2026 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference Friday, March 20, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre. The victory improved the Cabstars’ record to 4-4, securing their spot in the Final Four alongside Criss Cross (8-0), Savouge (5-2), and Alpha Insurance (4-3). The Event Masters, despite having two games remaining, can no longer reach four wins and are eliminated from semifinal contention with a 2-7 slate.
The Final Four will adopt a round-robin format, with all team records reset. The Cabstars’ triumph also ensured that the Protectors advanced to the semifinals, keeping the tournament’s top contenders intact.

Cabstars regroup and deliver in crucial moments
After a disappointing loss to Criss Cross earlier in the week, AEP-Cabstars adjusted their strategy against 3B. “Actually bad loss kami last Wednesday against Criss Cross so nag-adjust lang kami sa kung paano namin lalaruin ‘yung game against 3B. Maganda ‘yung huddle namin kanina, napagusapan namin kung ano yung gagawin namin today,” said head coach Kitty Antiporda. The team’s preparation paid off, particularly in the third set where they faced a tense 22-all scenario.
Jared Schnake set up Jay Rack Dela Noche for a sharp kill to break the deadlock. Axel Defeo then committed an attack error, giving the Cabstars a match point at 24-22. Although Paul Malaiba’s service error followed, Schnake delivered a decisive crosscourt spike to seal the 1-hour, 13-minute victory.
Dela Noche and Schnake lead AEP to semifinals
Dela Noche finished with 17 points, including 14 attacks, two aces, one block, and seven digs. Schnake added 12 points, while Vince Lorenzo anchored the floor defense with 19 excellent receptions from 26 attempts and four digs. The Cabstars demonstrated cohesion and depth, proving they can respond under pressure against a formidable opponent.
3B relied on JV Ramos’ 11 points, with Christian Olaes and Axel Defeo contributing 10 points each. AEP-Cabstars will next face Alpha Insurance on Tuesday at the Paco Arena, while 3B wraps up its maiden conference against Criss Cross next Friday.
