Davison Leads PLDT’s Bounce-Back Win as High Speed Hitters Avoid Third Straight PVL Defeat

Savi Davison did more than fill the stat sheet for PLDT. She helped the High Speed Hitters answer a growing question: Was their sluggish start a blip or a warning sign in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League season?

Coming off back-to-back straight-set losses, the High Speed Hitters needed a statement against Capital1 in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series. They delivered, rallying for a 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 win at the FilOil Centre on Saturday, October 24.

Savi Davison’s 28-Point Game Sparks PLDT Over Capital1

Davison finished with 28 points, 10 digs and 18 receptions, snapping out of a mini slump with a true two-way performance. Her attack steadied PLDT after it lost the opening set and gave the team a reliable option in long rallies.

The team effort mattered just as much. Kim Kianna Dy and Dell Palomata anchored a block-heavy stand, and PLDT finished with 12 blocks, nine more than Capital1, on the way to a win that lasted 2 hours, 17 minutes.

Dy added 11 points, while Alleiah Malaluan and Palomata had nine and eight, respectively. PLDT also held a 62-59 edge in attacks, showing that its offense finally matched the defensive energy missing in its previous two outings.

Davison said the team “kind of woke up” and realized the season “is going to be long and hard.” She added that PLDT had to focus on its own side first and control whatever comes its way.

PVL Season 10 Standings: PLDT Keeps Siklab Series Hopes Alive

At 1-2, PLDT is still chasing the leaders, but the win keeps it in range. Siklab is the first of three series in the PVL Season 10 All-Filipino Conference, and the top four teams in the single round-robin will advance to the semifinals.

With nine teams in the race, one more slip could have made the climb steep. Davison’s display gave PLDT a result to build on, especially after its difficult losses to Nxled and Akari.

Capital1 fell to 2-2 despite 23 points from Bella Belen, five fewer than Davison. The Solar Spikers could not stretch another match to a decider, as PLDT blunted their attack at the net and held control down the stretch.

Assistant coach Arnold Laniog took charge on the bench in place of head coach Rald Ricafort, and the win gave PLDT a timely response. The team now looks to build on that momentum as the series continues through early December.
