Texas handed No. 10 Vanderbilt its first loss of the season with an 80-64 victory on Wednesday night, January 14. Matas Vokietaitis scored 22 points, and Tramon Mark added 21 to lead the Longhorns to a key SEC win.
Dailyn Swain contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as Texas secured back-to-back wins over AP Top 25 teams, following Saturday’s victory over No. 13 Alabama.

Mark fuels Texas second-half surge
Tramon Mark scored 16 points in the second half, including consecutive 3-pointers that pushed Texas ahead by nine midway through the period. Chendall Weaver added a fast-break layup and two free throws, and Mark extended the lead to 14 with two free throws with 5:37 remaining.
Mark is averaging 19.8 points in SEC play, making 11 of 23 3-point shots. Against Vanderbilt, he connected on four of seven from deep. Texas finished the night shooting 53% from the field, including 7 of 17 on 3-pointers.
Vanderbilt struggles from the floor
Duke Miles led Vanderbilt with 21 points, and Tyler Tanner scored 17. But the Commodores shot just 26.7% in the second half and missed nine of 10 3-point attempts after making eight of 15 in the first half.
Texas led 42-37 at halftime in a fast-paced opening period. Vokietaitis and Swain combined for seven baskets in the paint, while Jordan Pope added 12 points. The Longhorns shot 55% in the first half to keep the game competitive heading into the second period. [Associated Press]
