TNT Tropang 5G is keeping its title hopes alive after defeating Magnolia Hotshots 118-109 Saturday, Dec. 27, at Smart Araneta Coliseum. The win secured TNT a spot in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals and a chance at a fourth straight finals appearance.

The Tropang 5G, seeded third, relied on its key players to deliver under pressure. Calvin Oftana led the charge with 25 points, including five three-pointers, while Jordan Heading added 21 points highlighted by a four-point play. TNT now prepares to face the winner of the Rain or Shine-Meralco rubber match on Monday.

Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and RR Pogoy also contributed double-digit scoring, demonstrating a balanced team effort. TNT coach Chot Reyes praised the squad’s discipline and focus throughout the game, noting that the team executed the plan from the opening tip.

Oftana and teammates shine in clutch moments

Oftana was in full rhythm, shooting 8-of-11 from the field and adding five assists, two rebounds, a steal, and a block in 39:18 minutes. He emphasized composure, reminding teammates that Magnolia would attempt a comeback.

The Tropang 5G jumped to an early lead of as many as 27 points and maintained control throughout the game. Magnolia’s top scorers—Zav Lucero, Rome dela Rosa, and Jerom Lastimosa—combined for 59 points but could not overcome TNT’s offensive balance and defensive intensity.

This victory followed TNT’s Dec. 21 win over Magnolia, where the Tropang 5G also emerged victorious, 94-83. The team continues to build momentum as it heads into the semifinals with confidence.
