Poosit Supupramai shoots hole in one to share lead at Bharath Classic

Poosit Supupramai electrified the field at the Bharath Classic 2025 in Gujarat on Saturday, Nov. 29, producing a hole-in-one on the 16th and chipping in for birdie on the 18th to share the third-round lead.

The 31-year-old Thai shot a bogey-free six-under-par 66, while fellow countryman Jazz Janewattananond carded a 65 to lead the field at 15-under at Kensville Golf Resort near Ahmedabad.

Poosit and Jazz showed adaptability to the Shotgun Start format, outpacing Panuphol Pittarayat (70), Heemin Chang (71), and Indian amateur Ishaan Chawhan (68) by three shots.

Both players are using the penultimate Asian Tour event to position themselves for a strong finish on the Order of Merit. Poosit, currently 81st, is seeking a victory to secure a one-year exemption.

Hole-in-one seals a sensational finish for Poosit

Poosit began the day in the second pairing, making birdies on the 6th, 7th, and 12th holes before his dramatic finish. On the par-three 16th, he aced the hole with a seven-iron, a shot he barely saw go in.

“I played as well as the first two rounds, but today I got lucky on many shots, especially the hole in one and the chip-in,” said Poosit. “I’m very happy today.”

His chip-in birdie on the final hole capped a day of flawless execution, giving him a share of the lead and sending the gallery into celebration. Poosit is chasing his first Asian Tour win after finishing third at last year’s SJM Macao Open.

Jazz, Merit leaders, and contenders push the pace

Jazz Janewattananond, focused on sharpening his game ahead of the LIV Golf Promotions event in January, remains steady at the top. “Bogey-free is always nice,” he said. “I made some good birdies and I’m happy with where my game is heading.”

At 14th on the Merit list, Jazz is secure for next season, but a win would mark his eighth Asian Tour victory. England’s Steve Lewton (69) and Spain’s Carlos Pigem (71) are four shots back, battling to secure their cards. Overnight leader Wooyoung Cho fell to a 74, dropping behind the leaders.

The US$500,000 Bharath Classic, jointly sanctioned with the Indian Golf Premier League, continues to showcase innovative elements like Shotgun Starts while setting the stage for players to solidify their Asian Tour status for next year.
