PLDT High Speed Hitters surged into the PVL Reinforced Conference semifinals with a 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21 win over Cignal Super Spikers at the Araneta Coliseum on Monday, November 24. Facing a do-or-die quarterfinal, PLDT showcased focus and resilience, reclaiming momentum after a recent loss to the same rival.
Savi Davison spearheaded the offense with 21 points and 13 excellent receptions, earning Best Player of the Game honors. Nastya Bavykina added 15 points, while Majoy Baron, Kim Dy, and Mika Reyes contributed 11, nine, and seven points, respectively.
Despite a third-set stumble, PLDT regained control in the fourth, with Alleiah Malaluan igniting a crucial 6-2 run. Davison sealed the set and the match with a sharp blast to Zone 5.

Experience and strategy fuel the comeback
The High Speed Hitters’ victory was also a testament to strategic adjustments and depth. Coach Rald Ricafort highlighted the players’ preparation and mental toughness as key factors in overcoming Cignal’s challenges.
PLDT’s precise ball distribution and defensive coverage limited Cignal’s opportunities. The Super Spikers were led by KT Trebichavska with 18 points, while Erika Santos and Jackie Acuña added 12 each. The slight edge in attacks (54-50) and blocks (13-12) proved decisive in a tight contest.
The win sets up a semifinal showdown with the surging ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Thursday. PLDT aims to secure a rare triple-crown sweep this season, while the other semis bracket features Akari Chargers against Petro Gazz Angels, both giant-killers from the quarterfinals.
Redemption achieved. Momentum regained. Two wins stand between PLDT and franchise history.
