The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commemorated the 68th birthday of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. by donating 2,000 sports balls to the Office of the President, strengthening grassroots sports development across public schools nationwide.
The donation includes 1,000 volleyballs from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), 500 basketballs from the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), and 500 footballs from the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

Supporting national sports vision in schools
The initiative aligns with the President’s vision for a new national sports development program, outlined in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28. In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the PSC plans to reintroduce sports clubs, inter-school competitions, and intramurals in public schools to ensure early access to athletic opportunities and nurture young talent.
“Bubuo tayo ng bagong pambansang programa para sa sports development. Uumpisahan natin ito sa paaralan pa lamang,” Marcos said during his SONA.
First family joins volleyball world championship opening
On the eve of the President’s birthday, the First Family attended the opening ceremony of the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2025 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. President Marcos delivered the ceremonial serve to officially open the tournament.
PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio expressed optimism for the direction of Philippine sports. “We are standing at the threshold of a great new era and the dawn of a truly exciting legacy. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” he said.
The donation highlights the PSC’s commitment to empowering Filipino youth through sports, promoting unity, excellence, and national pride.
