Suteepat Prateeptienchai delivered a powerful finish at the US$500,000 Mandiri Indonesia Open, posting an eight-under 64 at Pondok Indah Golf Club to claim his fourth Asian Tour title and his first victory outside Taiwan. The 32-year-old Thai closed the week seven shots clear of the rest of the field to underline a week of controlled, confident golf.

Suteepat’s final round featured two eagles and a steady bogey-free stretch that separated him from challengers. The performance reinforced a run of form that already included back-to-back Taifong Open wins in 2023 and 2024 and the 2024 Yeangder TPC.

Breaking away in Jakarta

The day shifted decisively on the par-five sixth, when Suteepat converted a long approach into birdie and then eagle momentum that pushed him in front. He capped the round — and the title — with a composed 10-foot eagle putt at the closing hole, leaving no doubt about the outcome. “All my friends on the Asian Tour said I could only win in Taiwan, so I am really happy to show them that I can also win outside Taiwan,” he said after the round.

Hong Kong’s Taichi Kho closed with a 66 for outright second, while Australia’s Kevin Yuan (66) and Travis Smyth (70) shared third at 16-under. Malaysia’s Shahriffuddin Ariffin, who began the day with a one-shot lead, fell back after back-to-back bogeys at 17 and 18 and finished in a tie for fifth alongside Thailand’s Pawin Ingkhapradit (66). Local hope Kevin Akbar carded a bogey-free 66 to finish tied seventh, his best Asian Tour result to date.

Suteepat’s week in Jakarta added another milestone to a career that has seen success across Asia — including three wins on Indonesian soil on the Asian Development Tour in 2022 that helped earn him promotion to the main tour. The Asian Tour schedule resumes with the Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea from September 11–14.
